ears and a new friend

ears and a new friend

obviously i am growing very very fast. first my new teeth which hurt me a lot and now my ears. one ear is now standing up straight most of the time, so i am definitely not a barbie collie! my mum and her friends think it’s really cute. can someone explain to me what cute is?  all that matters is that i like my ears, so does my mum, we don’t care what those show dog people think.

my one big ear!
and the other day, i met a friend, her name is daisy. she kind of ignored me but i really liked her. we went on this really long walk and she showed me what to sniff and where to pee and to make sure our human mums were always close by. mum says she will come up again very soon and spend some time with me. wonder what kind of things she will show me then. I can show her these little things that go away really fast in the sky but i think she already knows that, well that’s what mum says and apparently they are called birds.
daisy and sally, new friends
and i finally figured out the bells on the door. dead simple really. i push them with my nose and they make this funny sound and mum comes over to the door, tells me i am a good boy and lets me out. i must remember to do that always when i need pee time or poop time.
i am not a barbie collie

i am not a barbie collie

you may wonder what a barbie collie is. i did too.

a barbie collie is a border collie who is a show dog. not a border collie that works, not a border collie that is the best companion ever, not a border collie that competes in herding trials but a show dog. the kind of dog that has to look like what some humans think a border collie should look like. a border collie that is perfectly groomed, stands perfectly, has perfect markings and just stands there looking pretty and then prances around an arena with their owner. all looks and no brains.  i am not a barbie collie. i am a border collie from working stock. i do not have any sheep to herd but i am my mum’s best ever companion. and i know she would never ever make me be a barbie collie.

as you can see, i have one ear up and one ear down. that certainly would not be ok for a show dog.  i wonder if i will have matching ears when i grow up.  but who cares? not me or my mum.
